A refugee claim is often made by an individual accused of a crime in another country who then takes refuge in Canada. Refugee claims are heard by the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada. If the claim is denied, an appeal lies to the Refugee Appeal Board, and then an application for judicial review may be made to the Federal Court of Canada.
